Hello Thanksgiving!

November 28, 2010

Sure it’s Sunday and we didn’t have turkey but it was Thanksgiving dinner all the same..kinda. I decided to host a feast for the ages at my apartment for a few friends and spent the whole weekend preparing for the big event. Preparations included procuring cranberry sauce and Stove Top stuffing at the Foreign Food Market in Itaewon (about five bucks a pop, ugh), cracking open a can of yams and a can of collard greens from home, and making glazed carrots, creamed corn, and mashed potatoes myself. I also bought some rolls from Paris Baguette, it was harder than it should’ve been.

With more than a few lists and crudely drawn charts I was able to have everything made and ready to go on time. With no turkey, I relied on Matt to get something to provide the protein of our feast. He picked up fried chicken somethings, barbequed tenders and smoked ham – all of which were fantastic. Matt’s college friend, Jake, brought beer and wine and Maggie brought water to dilute the impending itis we were all about to endure.

It was really good.

There are enough leftovers for Thanksgiving II which’ll take place Tuesday.
