English Comes in All Flavors of Crazy

March 26, 2010

I guess just like anything else, there’s a huge range of skill level that tends to fit a bell curve. English speaking ability at SInwol Middle seems to be no exception except when the students are excited. When they get excited I get all kinds of sentences.

“YOU US YES CANDY YES?”

“DONUTS I LIKE YES GIVE ME YES”

“Teacher I saw a hampster with big height and USA owner and I eat it….” [realizes mistake] OH NO!”

“Noooo work teacher. sick sick. So happy…yes”

“SHE…HE IS bad girl, me girl yes yes”

Upon noticing my septum ring retainer “Nose is piercing! SO…YES!!”

I only see the second graders once every other week so they get pretty worked up when I come around and try to tell me whatever craziness I’ve missed or ask whatever personal question or demand they might have.  The end result tends to be strange strings of nouns punctuated with “YES” or “OH TEACHER”

YELL TEACHER CRAZY WORDS? No…
