Hello Foreign Lands & Foods! Part Deux

I went up to the roof and took a picture last night…apparently we’re in a major city.

As far as trying new food stuff , yesterday I had a sweet potato latte and it was just divine. It was hot and rich and creamy and all the wonderful attributes of sweet potatoes magically combined to pull a dreamy sigh of satisfaction right out of me. It was just heavenly.

And here’s lunch from today starting from 12 0’clock, there’s a sweet corn mashed stuff that is really really good, next is that same stuff fried, a rice and vegetable/seaweed medley, and finally some spicy noodles that I wasn’t too fond of. The drink is a can of coffee called “let’s be”, I guess for “let’s be awake so we can stay up and watch the fireworks with our loved ones” I love making up stories for these things.

Today’s my last day here and to wrap up we had to split into groups and make a mini lesson for other teachers to watch and evaluate. My group decided to have our “students” present an arguments using “first” “furthermore” and “finally”. We made hats with horns and halos and really just had a ball arguing some fun topics. And for the duration of the afternoon, we get to watch other lessons – this is tedious process but highly educational and useful.

I just looked outside and noticed that it’s the very first time I’ve seen the sky since I’ve been here – past days have been overcast and a bit dull. The blue is refreshing and comforting in its familiarity. The warmth of the day and anticipation of tomorrow’s events seems to be lifting everyone’s spirits; I’m pretty sure all of us are eager to get out and start teaching already!

    Hi Kristin! Did the sweet potato latte have coffee in it also? How different. Was it think like a milkshake? Ummm…interesting.

      No coffee…it was like a green tea latte but sweet potato flavored. Very very odd. The consistency was fine until I got to the viscous, grainy bottom sediment of the drink…eww
