Hello Changes!

August 26, 2009

It’s extremely dreary and rainy outside and I regret to say that yesterday I took up the incredibly nasty habit of smoking again.

There’s no really good excuse for this but I can certainly share what encouraged me to start. Last night, all SMOE people were informed about changes in the schedule and we got this fun memo after dinner:

Seoul City Tour Canceled

-The tour has been canceled due to the increasing number of H1N1 influenza patients in Korea. We will be replacing that timeslot with daily temperature checks done by the nurses

I should add that in the middle of classes yesterday, after our medical check ups, several people were yanked out of class and further tested for swine flu. My roomie was one of them – luckily she was released and determined to be healthy if not a little stressed out. Some people didn’t come back to class…and I can only speculate as to what the real problem is. Is it just someone with a summer cold? Or maybe someone’s allergies are really acting up? Who knows? We’re on official lock down now.

I wouldn’t really mind otherwise, but the withholding of information is kind of getting old and inappropriate being that all the SMOE people are educated, arguably mature adults. But, on the bright side, I’ll likely quit smoking again because we’ll be locked inside the dorms til we leave for our school assignments.
